Our engineering and architecture team brings diverse experience from companies such as Cisco, Extreme Networks, Brocade, Intel, Broadcom, Adaptec and HP. We consider this a necessary set of skills and a key advantage in a new era of converged data center solutions.
Varun Nagaraj
President and CEO
Varun brings to Aprius a breadth of operational and strategic experiences gained during his 20 year career in technology. Varun has served as CEO of NetContinuum (acquired by Barracuda Networks), as EVP of Marketing and Customer Operations for Ellacoya (acquired by Arbor Networks), and as VP of Product Management and Marketing at Extreme Networks (EXTR). Varun was previously a Partner at PRTM - a leading management consulting company focused on product and operations strategy. Clients included the world's leading server, storage, and communications companies. Varun also serves on the board of Parascale - a storage software company whose Google File System-like technology enables data centers to build storage clouds. Varun holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, a Masters degree in Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University, and an MBA from Boston University.
Peter Kirkpatrick
Founder and Chief Architect
Peter has broad experience in research and product development of high speed communication systems. At Intel, within the Digital Enterprise Group, he performed path finding work in server systems architecture utilizing next generation computer bus protocols, high bandwidth system interconnects and adaptive electronic filtering. Prior to this, at Intel and Lightlogic, he also designed and produced innovative 10Gb/s system interfaces for the enterprise data communications market. Peter attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, earning a MSEE in 1999 in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has been awarded 11 US patents and published more than 10 peer-reviewed papers.
Afshin Daghi
Vice President, Systems Engineering
Afshin brings to Aprius more than 20 years of experience in development and delivery of data center software and systems solutions. Most recently Afshin led the development of Brocade's in-band file virtualization products. Prior to Brocade Afshin led the development and delivery of a number of computing and storage products and services, including those with Sun Microsystems, Moxi Digital (acquired by Digeo) and Scale 8. Afshin holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from University of California at Berkeley, and Masters degree in Computer Science from Santa Clara University.
Gary Erickson
Vice President, Product Management
Gary is responsible for all product planning and definition activities at Aprius. He brings more than 20 years of marketing and product management experience with server and storage system products to the Aprius management team. He joins Aprius from Azul Systems, suppliers of innovative Java™ virtualization and acceleration platforms. Prior to that, Gary held senior product management positions at Hewlett-Packard and Scale Eight, delivering a number of successful data center servers and storage products.
Craig Thompson
Vice President, Product Marketing
Craig brings diverse experience in corporate management, product marketing and engineering management to Aprius. He has held various senior marketing roles in data communications, telecommunications and broadcast video, most recently with Gennum Corporation, based in Toronto, Canada. Prior to that Craig was Director of Marketing for Intel's Optical Platform Division where he was responsible for the successful ramp of 10Gb/s MSAs into the telecommunications market. Craig holds a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia and Masters of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Peter O'Brien
Vice President, Business Development
Pete has over 30 years of experience in the computer industry, with the last 12 years concentrating on OEM relationships with the major hardware and software suppliers. Peter's diverse background has spanned all aspects of data center hardware and software, including roles at Diligent Technologies, a De-duplication software company, Mendocino Software acquired by Symantec, Sistina software, the creator of Open Source LVM and CFS (clustered file system), and Rhapsody Networks, acquired by Brocade. Previously Peter worked at Sun Microsystems for over 11 years in management and sales positions.
