Aprius Raises $20M to Advance I/O Virtualization Systems

Ramping development of Advanced Computer Interconnect technology for virtualized data centers

SUNNYVALE, CA - September 04, 2008 - Aprius Inc, a developer of Advanced Computer Interconnect systems for data center and high-performance computing applications, today announced that it has closed a $20M Series B financing round to ramp development of its family of interconnect appliances using MMPe™ Transceiver Technology.

In addition to funding from current investors, Aprius is pleased to announce that the round will be lead by a new investor, Menlo Ventures, providing further validation of the technology and market need for higher bandwidth, shared I/O solutions in virtualized and compute-intensive data centers. John Jarve, Managing Director of Menlo Ventures, will join the board of Aprius.

"Menlo Ventures invested in Aprius because of the team's strong track record in delivering advanced products to market" said Mr Jarve. "There is no doubt that the success of server virtualization has now shifted the focus to the problem of low I/O efficiency and utilization in the datacenter, and we believe Aprius' technology will play a large part in solving that problem."

Aprius MMPe™ Tranceiver Technology enables servers to extend their PCI Express (PCIe) bus outside of the server chassis allowing data center resources, such as I/O, storage, co-processors, and eventually memory, to be pooled and shared over the industry's first optical PCIe 2.0 link.

"Our goal is to enable data managers to pool and share server resources across many servers and racks of servers through the use of Aprius interconnect appliances." said Varun Nagaraj, CEO of Aprius. "The MMPe ™ Tranceiver Technology developed by the team is one of many Aprius innovations that enable that vision."
